The National Air-France Company was created in 1933, unifying the domestic and abroad airlines, set up by five independent companies during the 20's : l'Aéropostale, Farman airlines, Air-Union, Air Orient and CIDNA (Compagnie Internationale de Navigation Aérienne). The technological evolution in France and everywhere else, required to mutualize the efforts, in order to maintain a constant progress of aerial equipments, which is an obligation for commercial aviation. This was useful, although companies appreciated by public opinion, following their first hour work, disappeared ; some of them remains legendary.

On the 10th of August 1938, the trimotor Dewoitine 338 F-AQBF "City of Vientian", in Air-France livery, lands in Hong Kong with 4 passagers, who travelled days and nights, thanks to sleeping accomodation. Average speed : 240 km/h - 156 Kts. Six days were necessary to reach Hong Kong ; this airline was aborted in 1940, no need to explain why...
According to me, this airline represents a first successful conclusion in the Air-France History. After 1945, the Epic took off again.
