Hi there!
I just downloaded the B787 Dreamliner from Ricoooo and installed it.
However, while flying, the alert messages sound loudly in the cockpit.
I couldn't find where to deactivate it.
I don't have this problem with other aircrafts. They merely display the alerts on the screen (lower right.)
Any help please.
Thanks

Sound - Alerts - on B787 How to deactivate?
I personally find them helpful, but to each their own, eh?
Then again, there are times I'm not exactly fond of "Bitching Betty" lol
it's not hard. just goto the sound folder for that particular aircraft, and edit the sound.cfg file for that aircraft, changing the existing filename to "filename=silence"
That SHOULD fix it, I think...lol don't quote Me on that as I've never attempted this before.

Sound - Alerts - on B787 How to deactivate?
Hi Gh0stRider203!
Thanks for the quick response.
I've tried... No good!
There is no chapter "Sound alerts" in the sound.cfg file for this particular aircraft.
Thanks anyway. I'll try again by comparing this sound.cfg file with other similar files.

Sound - Alerts - on B787 How to deactivate?
I actually don't fly the 787 for the simple fact that it's not worth having in the VA, in My personal opinion. For Me, it's all about making money, and while the 787 may have close to the same range as the 772LR (which we DO have), it can't carry the same number of passengers as you'll see in this screenshot...which means less $ for the VA.

Just find those wav- files on simobjects/airplanes/planename/sounds and delete those. for example "callout100.wav" etc.

Sound - Alerts - on B787 How to deactivate?
Hi Tonny0909,
Thanks for the reply.
However, it's not the sound by itself that is annoying, but the fact that it cannot be deactivated on this particular aircraft. I don't have the problem with the other aircrafts under FSX.
In the B787 files, there is one code that calls for these alert sounds. it is most disturbing because if, for example, the descent is only slightly too steep, the alert sounds even if the rate is correct.
All I could do was reduce the sound level in the related files in the main "Sounds" folder (from 10000 down to 6000.)
Thanks for the reply.

Sound - Alerts - on B787 How to deactivate?
Use the [gpws] in the aircraft.cfg
If there is no [GPWS] section just create one.
This section sepcifies the details of the ground proximity warning system.
Property
max_warning_height The height below which a warning is activated.
sink_rate_fpm If an aircraft exceeds this rate of descent a warning is activated.
excessive_sink_rate_fpm If an aircraft exceeds this rate of descent an urgent warning is activated.
climbout_sink_rate_fpm If an aircraft starts to descend during takeoff, and exceeds this rate of descent, a warning is
activated.
flap_and_gear_sink_rate_fpm If an aircraft is landing, and exceeds this rate of descent without flaps or gear extended,
a warning is activated.
Example:
[GPWS]
;//This Diables the 'don't sink', 'too low-flaps', etc call outs
;//Courtesy of & Thanks to Rob Barendgret
max_warning_height= 0
sink_rate_fpm= -9999
excessive_sink_rate_fpm= -9999
climbout_sink_rate_fpm= -9999
flap_and_gear_sink_rate_fpm= -9999

I really like the notification sound of this device.
