Overview
Wolfgang Piper’s Schleicher Ka 2b Rhönschwalbe for FS2004 depicts a two-seater designed for training and performance flying. It provides a setting for the gliding clubs of the 1950s and 1960s.
The real Ka 2b first flew in 1955. Rudolf Kaiser increased the Ka 2’s wingspan from 15 to 16 m and slightly lengthened its fuselage. Schleicher built 75 examples between 1955 and 1962.
This type suits training circuits and early cross-country flights without an engine, where keeping enough height to reach an airfield is central to the exercise.
