Overview
USS Nimitz and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, version 2, are AI ships by Javier Fernandez and Sylvain Parouty, adapted by Rikoooo. They run under simulator control and offer several configurations, with interior and exterior modelling, landing areas, helipads and catapults.
The package is intended for FSX SP2, Acceleration, Steam Edition and Prepar3D v1 through v4. The automatic installer addresses AICarriers 2 installation problems reported with earlier releases.
Replenishment and deck operations
Version 2 adds underway-replenishment configurations for both carriers, suitable for VERTREP helicopter flights. It also includes USNS Patuxent T-AO 201, with a landable helipad and night lighting. The oiler can sail as an independent AI ship; an AICarriers configuration is supplied.
- Steam on all catapults, with launch and jet-blast-deflector sounds.
- An animated shooter, extra crew for catapults 3 and 4, and new catapult-shuttle textures.
- A fix for falling into the water when entering the hangar from elevator 3.
- Corrections to aircraft night lighting in port-visit configurations, the aft radar tower and the island.
Positioning the ships
AICarriers2 is included as an option, in its .NET version. The package uses Lamont Clark's utility, adapted for the simulators listed above. It places an AI ship at a preset distance ahead of your aircraft so you can set up a carrier landing. The screenshots illustrate its use. Dino Cattaneo's T-45 Goshawk and F-14 Tomcat are examples of aircraft to use; details can be found on IndiaFoxtEcho.
The real ships are nuclear-powered Nimitz-class carriers, named for Admiral Chester Nimitz and President Dwight D. Eisenhower respectively.
