Overview

Thalixte recreates Carcassonne’s medieval citadel with photogrammetry for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Its towers, double walls and rooftops provide a distinctive landmark for flights around Carcassonne-Salvaza Airport.

The model uses a texture atlas and several levels of detail. Lighting also makes the fortifications visible at night. The real citadel has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.

Compatibility

Scenery originally created for MSFS 2020, with MSFS 2024 compatibility declared on the author’s listing.

Known limitations

Frame-rate drops have been reported around the citadel. The author states that this scenery has not been adapted for World Update 4.

Release notes

Version 1.1 corrects level-of-detail (LOD) issues.
