London Stansted Airport (EGSS)

liiiam’s Stansted brings together the airport’s satellite terminals, cargo buildings and Ryanair and Diamond hangars. It represents EGSS as it looked in 2020–2021, including the apron works and construction areas of that period.

At the stands

Ground markings and stand numbers organise the apron, while baggage equipment, buses and the passenger transit system bring movement between the buildings. The jetways use the simulator’s standard moving models. Ryanair and Jet2 737s are supplied as static scenery objects; the other aircraft flown in the screenshots are not part of this download.

Beyond the apron

Some satellite interiors and the inside of the NATS tower are modelled. On the landside, the access roads, hotels and car parks help the airport fit into its surroundings. PBR materials and lit windows change the appearance after dark, particularly around the terminal, hotels and police building.

Planning a visit

The author’s project page and release notes describe the original scenery and collect support comments. For airport information, open the current UK AIP from NATS, select the current online edition and find EGSS in section AD 2. Those charts describe the current airport: their markings and procedures may differ from this older scenery. The author’s presentation video gives an overview of the original release.

Original MSFS 2020 scenery, installed in Community. No successful MSFS 2024 compatibility evidence has been established; that simulator is not selected.

Close the simulator before installation. Install into the MSFS 2020 Community folder and search for EGSS. Keep one active Riko_egss copy; check for any other Stansted replacement in Community or the simulator Content Manager to avoid overlapping airport scenery. Retain the simulator’s standard scenery libraries. The two supplied text documents are available separately from the Community payload.

The author reports intermittent floating terminal buildings. Later MSFS 2020 users report terrain steps and uneven taxiways, including near runway 22. These reports have not been reproduced here and no terrain correction is included. There is no separate version without static aircraft. Some private-airfield hangars use standard library objects rather than custom models.

Author release 2.0, 24 August 2021: revised apron markings and grass, runway starting positions and windsock rotation, selected ground elevations, night lighting and taxiway signs. The author also renamed the model library to reduce potential conflicts. The original internal manifest remains 0.2.0; migration does not claim a later airport or terrain update.
