Overview
Craig Richardson’s Dornier Do 28A-1 and Do 28A-1S for FSX include six textures and a detailed virtual cockpit.
The real Do 28 was developed from the single-engine Do 27. It retained the high wing, high-lift devices and parts of the airframe, while mounting its two engines on short lower wings alongside the main landing gear. This arrangement explains its unusual outline.
Designed for short take-offs and landings, it provides a setting for routes between smaller airfields. The Do 28A first flew at Oberpfaffenhofen on 20 March 1960 with two 255 hp Lycoming O-540 engines; it is distinct from the more powerful Do 28B.
