Overview
BlueSkyScenery recreates Edwards Air Force Base and its surroundings across 14,500 km², using 1-metre-per-pixel photographic textures and a 10-metre terrain mesh. Guy Diotte added ground vehicles, parked aircraft and 3D buildings; Rikoooo supplied corrections for this package.
The scenery supplements the Edwards environment supplied with FSX Acceleration and Prepar3D. It is intended for FSX Acceleration or Gold, FSX Steam Edition and Prepar3D v4. Select KEDW to start at the base; slow, low-level flights allow a closer look at the imagery and installations.
Extract every archive file into the same folder before installing, including Disk0001.tiz, Disk0002.tiz and the remaining volumes. Then run the .exe installer, which copies the files and registers the scenery in the simulator.
Edwards is a major site in American flight-test history: Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier there in the Bell X-1 in 1947, and Columbia landed on Rogers Dry Lake after its first orbital flight in 1981.
