Overview

HMS Bounty Replica offers a different way to explore FSX and Prepar3D: this square-rigged tall ship moves entirely under wind power. Each sail is animated and controlled separately; flags respond to wind direction and speed, and the helm is animated.

The Sail Management Window brings together the ship’s controls. Heading, heel and pitch respond to the wind, deployed sails and yard positions. Sounds accompany the manoeuvres: wind and storms, wooden-hull creaks, the ship’s bell, a salute and weighing or dropping anchor.

Before sailing, read HMS Bounty Replica.pdf in your Windows Documents folder. Set realism to Hard for the intended wind effects; in FSX, these do not work with Easy realism.

Version 2.0, dated 11 January 2019, is native FSX and compatible with Prepar3D v4, including 64-bit code for P3D v4+. FSUIPC is not required. The package is by Milton Shupe, Nigel Richards, Rob Barendregt, Sasha Rieger and Rob Ibey.

The historical ship is best known for the mutiny of 28 April 1789, during William Bligh’s mission to carry breadfruit plants from the Pacific to the West Indies.
