Overview
The IRIS Harrier GR7/GR9 package for FS2004 includes several models and liveries, a virtual cockpit and custom sounds. It supports vertical take-off and landing, the capability most closely associated with the Harrier family.
Reading the manual is essential to learn the controls and the transition between conventional and vertical flight. Aircraft weight and fuel load matter: a vertical departure is not equivalent to a short take-off with a heavy load.
STOVL means short take-off and vertical landing, the operating pattern commonly associated with the Harrier. It differs from STOL, which refers to short take-off and landing. The RAF Museum describes the first generation of the family.
