Overview
This former Alphasim payware release, now freeware, brings six Lockheed Constellation variants to FS2004: EC-121K, EC-121R, L-049 BOAC, L-1049C, L-1049G TWA and RC-121D. A detailed exterior model, a virtual cockpit and custom sounds are included.
The instrument panel is heavily simplified. Essential functions, such as the power controls, remain usable, but the package favours easy handling over a detailed reproduction of aircraft systems.
The real Constellation grew from TWA's transcontinental transport requirements, with Howard Hughes involved in the project. It first flew on 9 January 1943 under the military C-69 designation. Its post-war airline career developed through the larger Super Constellation and then the Starliner with its new wing. The variants supplied here cover both civil transport and military adaptations of the family.
