Overview
Colin Thwaites and Claudio Mussner's X-35B M4.7 brings vertical flight to FS2004. It includes one livery with simple textures, sounds and a smoke effect. The model depicts the exhaust nozzle turning downwards and the associated doors opening.
Controls and handling
Select full flaps with F8 to activate vertical-flight mode. Holding a hover requires continuing joystick corrections: begin with small movements and gradually settle back into a stable position. Minimum speed listed for this add-on: 5 kt.
The real demonstrator
The X-35 was built for the Joint Strike Fighter programme that led to the F-35. On the X-35B, vertical lift combined a fan behind the cockpit with a swivelling main exhaust nozzle. This package represents the experimental demonstrator, rather than an operational F-35 variant.
