Overview
Craig Richardson’s complete Spirit of St. Louis package for FSX and Prepar3D depicts Charles Lindbergh’s purpose-built single-seat monoplane, registered NX211. Its layout was shaped by the fuel capacity needed for an Atlantic crossing.
On 20–21 May 1927, Lindbergh flew solo and nonstop from New York to Paris, winning the $25,000 Orteig Prize. On the real aircraft, a fuel tank ahead of the pilot severely restricted the forward view; a periscope provided assistance, particularly during takeoff. This historical feature explains the cockpit’s unusual arrangement.
