Overview
Two fuselages, unequal wings and offset engines make Burt Rutan's Boomerang immediately recognisable. Technotech's MSFS 2020 model includes a native cockpit, exterior animations and selectable avionics.
In the cockpit
The instrument options include a G1000 display, an AS330 transponder and integration for the optional PMS50 GTN750. The GPS addon is installed separately; it is not needed for the basic aircraft. Use the cockpit's avionics switches to change the displays.
The TruTrak Sorcerer-style autopilot combines a rotary control with a rocker. Its SEL button changes which NAV/HDG or ALT/VS setting is being adjusted. The panel also provides controls for the alternator, propeller speed and instrument lighting.
What to expect
This is an experimental freeware model. The author adapted DA62 flight dynamics because the original simulator could not reproduce the two-fuselage arrangement accurately. Handling, engine performance and stalls therefore differ from the real Boomerang. Flaperons and some cockpit details remain incomplete.
The distribution is labelled 0.90; its original internal manifest reads 0.8.9. It is offered for MSFS 2020. No MSFS 2024 compatibility is confirmed for this package.
Created by Technotech, with help from TJBurni, thealx, LVSKB and Jonx, and optional GPS integration from PMS50. Watch the presentation video.
Compatibility
MSFS 2020 package. Generic hosting-site MSFS 2024 badges are not treated as an author compatibility announcement; no in-simulator test is claimed.
Installation advice
Keep the standard Asobo NavSystems, generic, CJ4 and A320neo cockpit-instrument packages installed. Required sound banks are already included. Optional PMS50 GTN750 installs separately. Resolve an existing legacy or manually installed Boomerang before adding another copy with the Hub.
Known limitations
Approximate DA62-derived flight model; asymmetric handling, engine performance and stalls differ from the real aircraft. Flaperons and some cockpit details are incomplete. MSFS 2024 compatibility unconfirmed.
Release notes
Author release 0.90, 24 August 2021: selectable avionics, optional GTN750 integration, AS330, TruTrak-style autopilot, alternator switch and flight-model/visual corrections. Original embedded manifest declares 0.8.9 and remains unchanged.
