A short history of aviation in the simulator
This page is not a classic itinerary: it is a chronological journey to experience in Flight Simulator, from nineteenth-century dreams to modern aircraft.
The goal is to make history fly: improbable machines, pioneers, seaplanes, airliners, jet aircraft and contemporary heavy aircraft.
A sequence of milestones rather than one geographical line.
Discover aircraft and eras by flying them.
Vintage, seaplane, airliner, jet or heavy aircraft.
The map provides a symbolic thread between major places.
Understanding the flight
The original article gathers machines and episodes showing how Flight Simulator can become a living museum. This refit keeps that spirit with a clearer structure.
The map is intentionally symbolic: it links a few emblematic aviation locations to give a visual thread to a chronological page.
Before departure
- Choose one aircraft per era rather than one aircraft for the whole page.
- Create a save or logbook for every historical chapter.
- Accept the limits of early machines: delicate taxiing, low power and reduced stability.
- For modern jets, switch to IFR logic and procedures.
Suggested route
Dreams and pioneers
Start with precursor projects and early controlled flights. The aim is to feel the fragility of the beginning.
LFPB → KSFO
Airlines and seaplanes
Then move to early connections, seaplanes and transport aircraft that reshaped distance.
KSFO → EGLL → LFBO → KSEA
Jet age
The jet changes everything: altitude, speed, procedures and major hubs.
KSEA → OMDB → WSSS → YSSY
Modern long haul
Finish with contemporary heavy aircraft and a clear IFR mindset.
Experience tips
Do not chase absolute geography: this page is a flying museum, not a commercial route.
The best use is to fly one aircraft, read its context, then move to the next chapter.
