Overview
The AlphaSim B-1B Lancer for FSX includes four liveries, custom sounds, a virtual cockpit and a bomb-dropping feature. Its variable-sweep wings, bomb bays and several cockpit components are animated.
Version limitations: DirectX 10 mode is not supported. Rain can turn the virtual cockpit windows opaque in FSX SP2; use dry weather to avoid this issue.
The main animation and panel controls are:
- Flap command: wing sweep and leading-edge slats.
- Left or right stick input: automatic spoilerons and elevons.
- Shift + E: cockpit hatch; Shift + E, then 2: bomb bay doors.
- /: dorsal speedbrake; Ctrl + W: crew visibility.
- Shift + 2: electrics panel; Shift + 3: radios; Shift + 4: throttles; Shift + 5: GPS.
Using the keyboard for the wing spoilers can make them pop up when spoilerons are active, a simulator limitation. Assigning a slider or axis restores gradual movement. Afterburner effects and the associated thrust increase engage automatically.
A separate FS2004 version is available.
