Overview
Tim “Piglet” Conrad's Saab J 21 for FSX SP2 includes four liveries and a complete virtual cockpit with metric instruments. Check their units before flying, particularly if you normally use instruments calibrated in knots and feet.
The real fighter has a distinctive twin-boom layout and a propeller behind the pilot, driven by a Daimler-Benz engine. This left the nose available for armament but made escape in flight more difficult.
Saab therefore fitted an ejection seat, among the first installed as standard in a production aircraft. This solution addressed the risk posed by the propeller when leaving the aircraft. The jet-powered J 21R is a separate development from the propeller aircraft represented here.
