Arguably the most successful of the post-war aviation military transport, the Lockheed C-130 Hercules is the result of a specification issued by the USAir Force in 1951. The first of two prototypes called YC-130, powered by four Allison T56 turbine propeller-A-1, 3,250 hp, made its initial flight on 23 August 1954.
