A full journey through deltas, temples and mountains

Union of Burma Airways was created on 15 September 1948, shortly after the country’s independence. It first focused on domestic services, later opened international routes, became Burma Airways in 1972 and Myanmar Airways in 1989.

This 1969 itinerary crosses the country from south to north, taking in Rangoon, the Arakan coast, Bagan, Mandalay, Inle Lake and the mountainous regions near the Chinese border.
