Miami, Bimini, Nassau: a short bright amphibian loop

Chalk’s International Airlines built its legend on seaplane links between Florida and the Bahamas. The route is short, blue and immediately readable.

With a Grumman Mallard G-73, the plan becomes a very pleasant alternation between seaplane base, runway, islands and maritime approaches.

An iconic amphibian service.

Perfect amphibian for water and runway work.

StyleShort and visual

Little distance, lots of atmosphere.

Understanding the flight

The route works because it does not overreach. Distances are reasonable, the sea provides constant references and every arrival has a different flavour.

It is an excellent page for practicing amphibian operations without committing to a long or monotonous crossing.

Before departure

  • Choose readable seas and clear weather, with a few tropical cumulus for visual depth.
  • Check gear and float transitions if your model simulates them.
  • Keep simple reserves: the legs are short, but island alternates should be known.
  • Inspect each water landing area before committing.

Experience tips

Success here is about clean transitions: water, taxi, takeoff, runway, then back to water.

Keep altitudes low enough to enjoy the colour of shoals and islands.
