Imagining the career of a British giant
The Bristol Brabazon began as a wartime project in 1943 and was cancelled in 1953. It remains a fascinating symbol: huge, ambitious, designed for very long-haul travel, yet too early and too heavy for the real market.
This plan imagines what BOAC and major airlines might have flown if funding and orders had continued: transatlantic crossings, Africa, South America, Australia and even Japan.
Flying notes
- Keep propeller controls at 100 % and climb first toward 10,000 ft before stabilizing.
- Then continue toward 20,000 ft and 25,000 ft in steps, watching fuel burn and real weather.
- Heathrow to La Guardia is the demanding showcase: extreme range and very little fuel margin.
