A true bush-flying journey
Founded in 1973, Arctic Circle Air operated local services in Alaska, including stops inside or close to the Arctic Circle. The airline was acquired by Era Alaska in 2009.
This flight plan is a full immersion into northern utility flying: isolated strips, changing weather, short but demanding legs and a constant sense of moving toward higher latitudes.
Bush-flying notes
- Pick a rugged aircraft with short-field capability and good climb performance.
- Even the short legs deserve preparation: terrain, visibility and temperature can change the whole flight.
- The Allakaket, Fort Yukon, Anaktuvuk Pass and Arctic Village section is where the polar character of the route fully appears.
