Norway low along the fjords
This plan combs Norway carefully, especially along the northern and western coasts. Some legs are short, but access can be demanding: boxed fjords, maritime weather, nearby terrain and runways that require method.
Two approaches work well: fly every stop as a complete single-engine training exercise, or group three to four legs while overflying intermediate fields.
Tight relief, water everywhere and changing weather.
Fly low, prepare the map and enjoy the scenery.
A simple stable aircraft is perfect.
Some fjords should be flown low only after preparation.
Understanding the flight
Norway is not a route to rush. It reveals itself through terrain, capes, valleys and airfields tucked into narrow places.
The flight can also become historical: from Haugesund, imagine the Viking crossing toward Lindisfarne as a short narrative extension.
Before departure
- Keep weather readable over fjords, especially if flying at 1000 or 1500 feet.
- Study valleys and escape routes before the short legs.
- Group stages if you want pace, but overfly the important fields.
- Prepare arrivals like mountain approaches, even when altitude seems modest.
Suggested route
North Cape and Finnmark
Honningsvåg, Vardø, Båtsfjord, Mehamn, Lakselv, Hasvik, Hammerfest and Alta introduce a rugged northern Norway.
ENHV → ENSS → ENBS → ENMH → ENNA → ENHF → ENHK → ENAT
Troms, Lofoten and Nordland
Sørkjosen, Tromsø, Narvik, Andøya, Svolvær, Leknes, Røst and Bodø create a spectacular chain of islands, fjords and mountains.
ENAT → ENSR → ENTC → ENNK → ENAN → ENSH → ENLK → ENRS → ENBO
Helgeland and Trøndelag
Sandnessjøen, Brønnøysund, Rørvik, Namsos, Trondheim, Ørland and Frøya offer a smoother but still very maritime progression.
ENBO → ENST → ENBN → ENRM → ENNM → ENVA → ENOL → ENFA
West coast and fjords
Kristiansund, Molde, Ålesund, Ørsta-Volda, Sandane, Florø, Førde, Sogndal, Voss, Bergen, Stord and Haugesund are the visual heart of the route.
ENFA → ENKB → ENML → ENAL → ENOV → ENSD → ENFL → ENBL → ENSG → ENBM → ENBR → ENSO → ENHD
Southern Norway and Oslo
Stavanger, Lista, Kristiansand, Notodden, Skien, Torp, Rygge and Gardermoen close the tour through a more open Norway.

Experience tips
The best result comes from low flying that is never improvised: map, weather and escape routes must be clear.
If you group legs, at least overfly the coastal airfields to preserve the fine-tooth-comb spirit.
