A slow, demanding and beautiful round-the-world flight

This extended version adapts the Learjet 45 circumnavigation concept to the 1928 Fokker “Southern Cross”. The objective changes completely: you no longer cross the world quickly, you live it one stage at a time.

The route adds Hawaii, French Polynesia, Samoa, an Antarctic detour, Easter Island, Central Asia, China, the South Pacific, Africa and a Mediterranean return. It is a true long-form logbook.

Flying rules

  • With heavy fuel loads, stay low at first: 4,000 to 7,500 ft is often more realistic than 10,000 ft.
  • Climbing toward 10,000 or 10,500 ft usually becomes easier once fuel falls below 50 %.
  • Direct distances do not replace waypoints: many stages require detours for weather, terrain or safety.
  • Make time for it: this is not a quick article, it is a long-haul adventure.
